Edward Burtynsky: Expansion At What Cost?

Man really seems to have no limits; we are a gluttonous and vain creature that wants products in abundance, physically appealing, with no patience to wait. Edward Burtynsky seems to capture our demands in his photos. In the video he calls his photos, "something you take think as beautiful, but are uneasy as to look at." The photos really leave you in awe, the twisted torso beauty of metal and stone; it shows you the power of man. The amazing things we can accomplish within a short period of time. It makes you wonder though, at what cost does it come at? The "accomplishment" of being able to reuse the materials and resources that we tapped and no longer are made trivial, and instead makes recycling and expansion so grotesque. So I guess the real question is do we favor God made creations as beautiful or the alterations made by man?
